You have to love outdoor Florida Weddings. I was lucky enough to be invited to a beautiful wedding in Steinhatchee, Florida at the sun warming Steinhatchee Landing Resort. After a night of beer and laughs, my sister woke me up at 6am to photograph the sunrise over the river. I remember it being wet and cold, but must importantly stunning. What a perfect start to a wedding. I took this trip as an opportunity to get away from the MAN, and to do what I love to do, photograph stuff… I wanted to capture as many details as possible, and still have time for some home brewed drafts.
Amy and Joey sure know how to host a wedding, and got married like seasoned pros. Their delicate thought into every detail set the tone for a outrageously perfect wedding. Some of my favorite things included custom beer koozies, live goats, crab cakes, and crazy wild love spreading all over Steinhatchee’s glory.
This weekend also gave me the chance to use the Canon 50mm 1.2 L lens, and try out some landscape shots. I love the 50mm, by far my favorite lens, and found that I naturally kept it around f1.8. The morning river adventure with my sisters was such a learning experience. I knew I wanted to play with multiple exposures, which is why I brought my tripod… I never really EVER use a tripod. The final river image was just two exposures, I captured four exposures, but in Photoshop just needed the two exposures. I blended the two images together by hand in Photoshop, mostly using layer masks, and focused on dodging and burning. I will try to get a video out soon on the workflow I used, but I guess I should get better at it first. Enjoy the photos, and don’t forget to like my Facebook page for sweet unicorn inspired updates.

Wow. Looks like an incredible wedding. Great details. Great photos. And your river shot needs to be submitted to a National Geographic. For realzies.
